• Open a Finder window.
• In the menu bar, click on Finder and then Preferences.
• General tab > New Finder windows show > Other > Downloads

• Install Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel from the Mac App store
• Word > Preferences > Edit:
  • Deselect Select entire word when selecting.
  • Insert/Paste pictures as > Top and Bottom

• Install the following programs from the Adobe CC Suite:
  • Acrobat
  • Audition
  • Illustrator
  • Photoshop

• Run the following in the Terminal to prevent .DS_Store files from being created on network drives and USB-connected volumes:

defaults write com.apple.desktopservices DSDontWriteNetworkStores -bool true
defaults write com.apple.desktopservices DSDontWriteUSBStores -bool true

• To allow launching a Terminal window directly from a folder using the right-click services menu:
  • System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Services. Find "New Terminal at Folder" in the settings and click the box
